Ownmost Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 1, 2026
Ownmost (“the app”) is a journaling app made by Deploy (“we”). This policy explains what information the app handles, where it’s kept, and when it leaves your device.
1. At a glance
- Your journal, photos, locations and everything else you record stay only on your device. We can’t see or receive them. There are no servers of ours for your entries, and no accounts.
- To learn whether the app works well, the app sends usage statistics and crash reports to Google’s Firebase. These never contain what you record, and you can turn them off in Settings (section 4).
- There are no ads, and the app doesn’t use advertising identifiers.
- Your entries leave your device only when you turn that on yourself, and even then they go to your own iCloud or Google Drive, or to your other device nearby, never to us.
2. Information stored on your device
The information below is created only when you enter it or allow it, and it stays in the app’s storage on your device. We can’t see it.

3. Permissions and what they’re for
The app asks for a permission only when it’s needed. If you don’t allow it, everything else still works.

4. Usage statistics and crash reports (Firebase)
To learn how many people use the app and where it stalls or crashes, so we can fix it, the app uses Google’s Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics.
- What’s sent: how often and how long the app is used, which screens are opened, the app version, device model and OS version, language, approximate region (country and city level), a random identifier created for each installation, and error logs when the app crashes
- What’s never sent: nothing from your entries: no text, titles, photos, locations, “The air that day” or lock passcode. The app doesn’t use advertising identifiers (IDFA or Advertising ID)
- How to turn it off: turn off Settings › “Send usage statistics and crash reports” in the app, and nothing is sent from then on
- Retention: Google deletes usage statistics after 14 months and crash logs after 90 days
- This information is processed by Google under Google’s privacy policy. We see only aggregated statistics and crash logs that don’t identify you
5. When your entries leave your device
Your entries leave your device only in the cases below, and only when you turn them on or choose them.
- iCloud backup (iPhone): Your entries and photos are uploaded to a folder only the app uses in your iCloud Drive. Apple’s privacy policy applies.
- Google Drive backup (Android): Your entries and photos are uploaded to the app’s own folder (appDataFolder) in your Google Drive. The app can access only this folder and can’t see any other files in your Drive. Google’s privacy policy applies.
- Nearby device sync: The app finds your other device nearby over Bluetooth, and the two devices exchange entries and photos directly. Nothing goes through the internet or any server of ours.
- Sharing and export: When you turn an entry into an image, PDF or text file and send it to another app, it goes only where you choose.
- Dictation (Android): If your device can recognize speech on the device, it’s processed there. If your device doesn’t support that, the speech recognition service set on your device (usually Google) processes it, and that service’s policy applies. On iPhone, dictation is always processed on the device.
This month’s summary is created by on-device AI on devices that support Apple Intelligence. Your entries don’t leave your device.
6. Sharing with third parties
We don’t sell your information or give it to anyone. Only Google (Firebase) handles information on our behalf, for the usage statistics and crash reports in section 4.
Purchases of Ownmost Full Access are handled by the App Store and Google Play, and the app checks your purchase with the store on your device. We don’t receive buyer information such as your name or payment method, only the sales statistics the stores provide.
7. Retention and deletion
- When you delete an entry in the app, its text and photos are removed from your device right away. Only a marker that the entry was deleted (its date and identifier) is kept, so it doesn’t come back from another device.
- The next time you sync with your other device, it’s deleted there too, and the next time you back up, it’s removed from the backup as well.
- Deleting the app removes all entries and photos from your device.
- You can delete a whole backup yourself in your iCloud or Google Drive settings.
- Because we don’t hold your entries, we can’t restore them for you. We recommend keeping backup turned on.
8. Children
The app isn’t aimed at any particular age group. Apart from the usage statistics and crash reports in section 4, it doesn’t receive information from users of any age.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we’ll post the new version on this page with a new effective date.
